Personal service on a Pacific island paradise The fact that many of their guests keep returning over years, even decades, says everything about this low key but so welcoming island resort. At maximum occupancy there are 10 bures (chalets) in use and a staff of 24. The key staff know each guest by name – and the guests introduce themselves to each other and so it’s a very sociable place. You need to love the sea as there’s a 30 minute ride to the island on a small motor boat. On the island the main (basically only) activities involve the sea: snorkelling, swimming, kayaking… Or you can read on a sunlounger and take photographs of the sunset. Or you can walk round the island, which takes about 15 minutes! However, there is an organised activity each day – usually a boat trip to a snorkelling place. The food is high quality: you need a good chef to provide 3 meals a day as all accommodation is on a full board basis. If you want an air-con room, more activities and better internet connectivity then you would probably prefer a bigger resort. One more thing I really appreciated: their conscientious following of covid regulations. I would have appreciated a wider double bed. read less
Vinaka Navini !! Thank you Navini for the amazing memories for our first post COVID international holiday. The reef around the island is amazing and we saw turtles, sharks, rays , octopus and plenty of colourful fish and corals. The daily morning snorkelling trips and activities are fun. The bures are modern and the food is fresh and healthy. All dietary requests were accommodated with a smile. Thank you Dumu for the “snorkel adventure” and Simu for the basket and fan weaving lessons. Thank you to all the Navini staff for looking after us on our 7 day trip - Joka, Joyce, Sai,Simu, Dumu, Thomas, Kunal, Ragni, Simone, the housekeeping staff and the chefs. Vinaka Vakalevu and we will be back soon 🙂 xoxo Vaitu and Vera
Absolute paradise, can't wait to go back! It was out first trip to Navini, and one we will never forget. The island is naturally incredible with pristine beaches and water, however it is the staff and their high level of customer service that will have me coming back. They couldn't do enough to look after my family and went out of their way to make sure we had everything we could possibly need. The food is also incredible, with a great selection at every meal.
A piece of paradise! Absolutely a piece of heaven on earth! I would give it 10 stars if possible‼️ Our family consisted of 8 of us, the youngest being 8 and the oldest being 90 and everyone of us were made welcome from the minute we were picked up at our overnight hotel to when we were delivered back to the airport in Nadi! Comfort of the guests is obviously a top priority for the owner and her staff. We were greeted by the staff learning each of our first names and introducing themselves to us and with a refreshing glass of fruit juice. Their attention to each of us never waivered. We got to know most of them by name and had the opportunity to visit with them and learn about Fiji, their traditions and lives. After meeting Simone, the owner, the first night, it was obvious that this wonderful place is special and that she pours her heart and soul into it. ... read moreAbsolutely a piece of heaven on earth! Jhoka, Una and Joe were always available with their smiles and to chat with us or to look after something for us, Duma, teaching us to make coconut buns or give a lesson on the palm tree or entertaining the kids! Thomas looking after the divers and snorkelers in our group, Lukimie driving the boat, Kara and Evie looking after our buries everyday, the kitchen staff cooking our fantastic meals, all were so appreciated! This is a very special place filled by very special people with hearts of gold! The Sunday evening was a treat for us to get to listen to and sing along with the staff as they celebrated the day. Our last night there was luvo night, the traditional meal cooked by the hot rocks and what a feast it was! Then to end the evening with Fijian style dancing with the staff was an extreme highlight. They had us all joining them, even my 90 year old mother in law, and she was delighted to be a part of it all.
All this to say, Navini is a memory that will live on in our family forever and hopefully we will be able to return!! It is worth every effort to get there! read less

Perfect for a family! Our family of 5 (three sons ages 4, 7 and 10) absolutely loved our time on Navini. The island is gorgeous and peaceful and we had our own private beach just steps from our burre. The snorkeling was the best we've experienced in Fiji. Each day Dumu took us to different spots and we saw so many amazing creatures. The food was quite delicious and they even change the kids meals everyday so the kids don't get tired of eating the same food. The fruit lollipops for dessert were a favorite of my boys! Each night, they have a kids activity during the adult communal dinner and it was one of our boys' favorite parts of the day. They took the boys to gather hermit crabs and played hide-and-seek and learned how to play Vidi Vidi and all the while, my husband and I were able to enjoy leisurely dinner. Fantastic relaxing week A stay at Navini Island Resort is total relaxation intertwined with wonderful snorkeling adventures. You can do as little or as much as you wish. It is a very small island with no day-trippers and during our stay there were more staff than guests.
The meals were excellent and we so enjoyed meeting all of the other guests at communal dining tables.
Also the opportunity to meet the staff and share kava and games after dinner was very enjoyable.
We look forward to a return visit.

Perfect! Navini is a small, intimate island very appropriate for couples, although it may be excellent for older children, too. It's tranquil, and the bungalows open on your private beach. The cuisine is an exquisite European, Asian, Fijian fusion. We had 21 meals while on the island, and we didn't have the same dish twice. The outdoor activities include snorkelling, swimming, kayaking and sailing. The most important event is the morning trip (included in your package) that will be to a hidden snorkelling spot or a sand cay or a traditional village. Speaking of classic, the most crucial time of the day is after dinner when the staff entertain you with live music, local drinks (kava) and a local board game called Vindi Vindi (inspired by Carrom).
All in all, you get to experience the real Fiji like you wouldn't be able to do in any other resort. We felt like members of their family rather than guests. We cried when we left, and that should tell you a lot!

Another excellent Navini experience We just made our third trip to Navini and it just keeps on delivering. Somehow, they to be able to improve on perfection.
I didn’t think it was possible but the food has only gotten better. Ana and the kitchen staff have from creating delicious meals to creating super-dooper delicious meals! Kids activities away from the dining area during the adults’ dinner is an added bonus.
One of the best things about Navini is that you get treated like a family member rather than a stranger. For return visitors, being greeted with a hug rather than an introduction is just one of many reasons that we will keep coming back.
Whether it’s new staff or ‘old hands’, everybody goes out of their way to make your holiday unforgettable.

Navini Island - Pacific Paradise. A week spent with our extended family - our children, their partners and our seven grandchildren - a party of 17. Despite the range of ages we were all catered for and made very welcome. Bures (little self contained units) were clean and comfortable and just a few metres walk to the clean, clear and warm waters of the Pacific Ocean. Meal time was a great family time - the food was simple, beautifully prepared and presented. Staff were friendly and helpful always with a 'Bula!' welcome and always with a smile, nothing was too much trouble.Activities were available for young and old with swimming and snorkelling (looking at coral & fish) probably the most popular with our party. Friendly, relaxing, beautiful My partner and I spent five nights on Navini Island in September and it was wonderful. Not only is the island gorgeous, and the water surrounding it pristine, but the people who work there are super friendly and welcoming - ready to make your trip an absolute joy. Add to that the value of the free excursions (twice snorkeling, once to the native village) and the very comfortable accommodations, and you have paradise. Saw reef sharks and a turtle snorkeling right off the island too... And though it often got windy on our side of the island, we just walked to the other side and it was perfect! Thank you to Joka, Loatta, Inia, Kata, Eviesaki, Thomas, and the whole crew at Navini Island for a wonderful stay.
Fabulous stay at Navini! Beautiful, peaceful, paradise, Navini was even better than we expected! We stayed in a premier deluxe Bure literally on the beach which was fabulous. Snorkeling around the Island was excellent and the daily boat trips to other reefs were also great. We had opted for the two meals a day which were always of a very high standard. Above anything else I must make mention of the staff who in my opinion will not be bettered in any 5 star hotel, customer service was incredible, every staff member knows your name and uses it for the duration of your stay. They were all genuinely kind and happy to help in anyway they could to make our stay even better. I cannot fault anything about Navini it really is perfect in every way. Thankyou to all your staff for making our trip so enjoyable. We will be back!
Wonderful holiday experience Our second visit to this island, we returned because it is a beautiful place with very helpful and kind staff always willing to do extra for us. The bures are all beachfront and comfortable, the surrounding reef is a sanctuary and full of fish and coral, every day there was a free boat trip to other reefs to snorkel. The food was delicious and more than ample. The whole experience was restful and relaxing and we will return again.
Pure enjoyment! My husband and I loved our 3 nights at Navini (wished we had booked for longer)! The staff were very friendly, the food was delicious and the premier bure on the beach was everything we could have asked for. Two of the excursions included amazing snorkelling (the best we have ever seen having visited both Samoa and Vanuatu in the last couple of years). One excursion to Muscat Cove and Plantation Island was Ok (the families with children enjoyed swimming in the pools). I think we were taken there to compare resorts and reinforce the fact we had chosen one of the best islands in Fiji to vacation on - couldn't wait to get back for lunch and to do more great snorkelling right outside of our bure. Would definitely recommend to stay at least a week if possible. We will definitely be back sooner rather than later (I hope).
Best Vacation Ever Wow, it is hard to know where to start! Our family, traveling together on this 10-day vacation, all agreed it was the most relaxing and enjoyable vacation we have ever experienced.
We were struck most by the positive spirit and hospitality of the staff, followed by the beauty and compactness of the island. By day two, the entire staff called you by your first name. They were personable and caring and could almost read your mind as to wants and desires. The accommodation, we stayed in, the family Villa, was modern, clean, and in a top state of repair. We had daily service that included a complete cleaning and new sheets and towels. Our family of five adults and one grandchild fit comfortably into this Bure. Each Bure has an outdoor hammock and a covered seating area on or adjacent to the beach. We were on the north side of the island and were treated to the most beautiful sunsets.

The dining area was a central hub of activity. We opted for three meals a day and with all the activity offered, we were glad that we did. Breakfast was a fixed menu with a daily special – who would argue with waffles with ice cream and chocolate sauce? Lunch was ordered after breakfast and dinner after lunch. The meals were varied and included vegan, vegetarian, or gluten-free options. The food was delicious! There were lots of fresh fruits and vegetables, a good variety of dishes, and homemade ice cream every day. The children ate at 1830 and the adults at 1930. As the children ate, the adults enjoyed “Happy Hour” and some activity – the Navini Band, Kava Ceremonies, a history lesson, Sulu tying instruction, or just fellowship with new friends. The children were often offered structured activities after their meal. Families could eat together at either time. The Lovo meal (cooked in the ground) on Fiji night was the trip’s food highlight, as was the band and dancing.
Activities were abundant. Each morning, as the loli called us to breakfast, and Loata, would post the daily activities. Snorkeling trips to nearby reefs were almost daily except for the addition of a trip to visit Solevu Village on another island, and a visit to a larger resort. Dumu showed us how to deconstruct a coconut and explained the local use of all parts of the tree and fruit, and showed us how to make a basket from coconut palm fronds. Scuba, surfing, and fishing could also be arranged. There was a daily volleyball game on the beach. The afternoon that it rained and drove us indoors to play a board game was viewed as a nice rest. There were plenty of games and books in the library. We never wanted for activity and even managed to work in some reading time in the hammock!
One of the reasons we chose Navini was that you could participate in all of the island’s water activities off the beach from mid-tide through high-tide to the next mid-tide. At low tide, excursions to other reefs were available. Many of Fiji’s resorts offer ocean water activity, including just swimming, only at high tide.
I started this review with a discussion about our wonderful interaction with the staff. I need to add how enjoyable it was to get to know the other guests on the island as well. With up to 30 guests on a 6 acre island, you are going to get to know each other. There were always multigenerational families present as well as couples, young and old. We met people from Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Singapore, and the USA.
Things to ponder and/or plan for:
- Your feet, and probably your pants, will get wet getting on and off the boats transferring to the island.
- The coffee service is all espresso based. If you’re a coffee snob, like our five adults, you may have to improvise. We took a couple pounds of ground coffee and filters making pour overs into the French Press and a hydro flask – worked for us. There is an electric kettle, French Press, and a daily supply of ground espresso to make two small cups of coffee. If you want more, simply ask.
- The Navini family asks that you use “reef friendly” sunscreens.
BOTTOM LINE, THIS WAS THE BEST VACATION MY WIFE AND I OR OUR FAMILY TOGETHER HAVE EVER HAD! read less
Service like no other... exceptional Whilst this is not a review for an overnight stay, my experience with the staff at this resort speak volumes of the service and hospitality at Navini.
We visited the island after a boat transfer between other islands went wrong and the staff here were only too happy to assist.
Looked after with coffee and the assistance of their boat to get us the rest of the way.... I can’t thank Navini staff and the resort enough.
Impeccable help for weary travellers.

Still wonderful We returned to Navini after a 10 yr absence - we won’t be waiting that long for our next visit.
The biggest improvement in 10 yrs has been the revamped bar/dining area and the food itself. We took the 3-meal/day package and the wait and kitchen staff had no problem in adjusting the menu to our requests (mostly more veg in place of carb elements). The food was really delicious, lots of fresh fish and salads and loads of choices at every meal.
We had a 2-room bure which worked well for the 3 of us. Located on the NW side we got the winter sunset perfectly. Some cheap reef shoes came in useful on the rocks and with all the coral.
The other guests were delightful - good company at meals, fun on the afternoon volleyball court and over an evening game of vindi vindi. There were a few families with kids of various ages - if that’s not your thing then research the dates of Aus/NZ school holidays to avoid... read moreWe returned to Navini after a 10 yr absence - we won’t be waiting that long for our next visit.

The days were filled with great snorkeling, both on the north of the island and on the morning excursions. Lengthy swims with turtles were a major highlight... Afternoons were resting, swimming, water sports until 4:30 pm volleyball game, then cocktails and prep for dinner. Our stay felt both long, as we relaxed immediately and felt we packed loads in, and short as it came to an end too soon.
Finally, the thing that hasn’t changed is the warmth and genuine hospitality of the team on Navini. I won’t attempt to call out individuals as all were unfailingly lovely, friendly and professional. Can’t recommend or thank them enough.

Perfection! We just spent 5 perfect nights on Navini. Even though we were moving on to another resort (Likuliku on Malolo), we didn't want to leave! We split up our vacation up between the two resorts, thinking we might feel confined on a 6 acre island after 5 days but my wife and kids and I all would have been happy to stay another week (at least!) on Navini. Snorkeling on the north side of the island was as good as any of the other reefs we went to with plenty of corals, shells (just don't touch any live cones!), brightly colored fish, sharks (friendly), and turtles.
Bures were simple but clean and comfortable and felt very private. Very much enjoyed having a large, covered day bed outside on the sand for reading, napping, or just watching the Black-Tipped Reef sharks feeding on the small bait fish swimming a few feet off the shore. Chaise lounge chairs were also available even closer to the water... read moreWe just spent 5 perfect nights on Navini. Chaise lounge chairs were also available even closer to the water and provided great viewing of the stars at night. Food? Plentiful and very tasty. It's not a Michelin-starred experience but instead just good home cooking. Fits perfectly with the whole vibe and experience of Navini. (You don't even have to wear shoes at meals.)
But what makes Navini so incredible are the people who work there. Vini, Nanise, Vaulina, Joka, Thomas, Dumu, Si (Sy?), Ari, Kunal, Lo, Evi, Jose... I'm sure there are others I'm forgetting. Their warmth and hospitality were unlike anything we've ever experienced. Tears were shed at departure as we felt like we were saying goodbye to family.
Given how convenient it is to get to Navini from Nadi airport (you're met at the airport, drive for 20 minutes to the dock, and then take a 30 minute boat ride to the island), it makes Navini tough to beat. We cannot wait to return! read less
Wonderful taste of Fiji You can't go wrong choosing Navini for your Fiji vacation. This was our first time visiting Fiji and I liked the idea that after 24 hours of traveling someone would meet us at the airport and take us to our destination as soon as we arrived. Staying at Navini is so enjoyable. I never felt so safe and relaxed. The staff is amazing. This was our favorite place to stay in Fiji.
Wonderful Family Time in Paradise Our Family group of 12, 70 years old down to 4 years old, have just returned home from a wonderful week on Navini Island. All of us were very sorry to leave, especially the children. Their new Fijian friends who took care of them and played with them after children's dinner hour were loved by the children and will be missed.
All of us had a fantastic time on the snorkeling trips with life jackets and swim noodles available for weaker swimmers. The reef around the island was also great, the coral is recovering from cyclone damage and there are lots of fish, shells, little sharks and turtles to see and not too many sea lice.
Some of the family have food allergies and intolerances which were very well catered for, nothing was too much trouble. All the meals were great, a little big for some of us. The tropical fruit platters were yummy. The most delicious birthday cake was made for us as 3 of the males had birthdays in the week we arrived on Navini, and the guitar playing and singing for the birthday boys was a lovely touch we all appreciated.
Free use of kayaks, sail boat, snorkel equipment, paddle boards was a treat which we all enjoyed. There were plenty for everyone to use without a time limit.
After dinner we were usually too tired from the sea and sun to join the local board game, apart from one or two of us on the last night.
All of us felt very safe here and none of us ever thought of locking our rooms. My doors were wide open all the time, apart from when I was sleeping at night. I have never felt like that on holiday before, truly a treat.
All of us are planning to return, it was the most wonderful holiday in a beautiful safe place with beautiful people there to look after us. read less
We’ll be back It’s not hard to see why Navini has so many repeat visitors, it really is something special.
Firstly it’s only an hour from the airport, with 24/7 access so you don’t have to spend a night in transit (unlike more remote islands). Secondly there is plenty of space and privacy- each Bure has its own small garden with sun loungers, day bed or hammock. Thirdly a complimentary activity each morning helps strike the balance between leisure and action.
Add excellent food, friendly Fijian staff and a laid back vibe, and its makes for a great holiday.
We had a five day stay in a Deluxe Premier Bure, our friends stayed in a two room Bure, across the island from each other. Both Bures were reasonably spacious, modern and spotless. We shared sundowners each night on the sunset side of the island out of the wind, before heading off to dinner.

The shared dining table worked well, with most guests (mainly Australians, with a Spanish and NZ couple) ranging from 19 to seventy- something, happy to chat. However guests were welcome to sit on private tables, and most couples did at least occasionally.
Food was very good (far better than at the more expensive resort we stayed at earlier in the trip). Fresh fruit and cooked breakfast in the morning, a choice of three mains and two desserts for lunch and three multi- choice courses for dinner. It was home style cooking, if your home cook is excellent and gives you lots of choices. Loved the profiteroles one night.
Activities ranged from a trip to a resort on a neighboring island, to snorkeling trip to the uses of a coconut one windy day. There was also plenty of free water sports equipment, all in very good condition. One of the staff kindly carried a kayak across the island so I could paddle inside the protecting reef.
This resort is run with care by the resident owners, Kunal, the manager is so considerate and the staff are kind. It really was a great place to stay. read less
Paradise with an Ocean View - Bula! Did you ever dream of your own private tropical island when you were a child? This is the reality. We have enjoyed 8 nights on Navini Island with the most wonderful staff, exquisite natural surroundings, comfortable modern bures, amazing snorkeling every day, delicious freshly cooked food every meal, singing, dancing, games, smiles, laughter, new friendships, private beach walks, (watching the tiny baby reef sharks at the shoreline) quiet reading time, total peace and relaxation. I could go on and on. There was nothing more that we wanted from our beautiful holiday. Vinaka vakalevu everyone on Navini. 🙂 We will return.
Nirvana (a desert island paradise) We first started holidaying in Fiji in the eighties, and having stayed at many different resorts over the years, having finally landed with Navini as our nirvana. For more information, please see my other Fiji reviews and photos.
This was our 5th visit to Navini – so in Navini terms we are only relative newcomers!
Once again the island, staff and snorkelling delivered 100% to our expectations, gleaned originally from reading Trip Advisor reviews, then talking to long term returnees during past visits, and our own experiences.
That said, this year, for the first time, we realised Navini may not suit everyone.
In past reviews I have always focussed on what Navini is, so I thought this year I should focus on what it isn’t, and who it may not suit.
In our view, Navini is not for those who:
• prefer to listen to their own loud music on their portable speakers during the communal gathering for pre-dinner drinks, rather than enjoy the tranquil desert island atmosphere

In our view, Navini is not for those who:
• prefer to listen to their own loud music on their portable speakers during the communal gathering for pre-dinner drinks, rather than enjoy the tranquil desert island atmosphere
• enjoy their own boisterous gathering in the small communal area oblivious to other guests, rather than enjoy listening to the island staff playing guitars and singing Fijian songs
• when they become bored looking at coral and colourful reef fish on organised reef snorkelling trips expect other guests to cut their snorkelling short and return to the boat after only 20 minutes, rather than snorkelling for as long as planned, say closer to an hour
• want to remove coral and marine life from the reef rather than just admire or photograph it where it is
However, if the above is what you are looking for there are a number of other resorts in Fiji which will provide some of what you are seeking, but unfortunately (based on the Trip Advisor reports we have read, the past guests we have spoken to and our own past experiences) Navini doesn’t appear to be for you.
Vinaka to Simone, Tueta, the staff “family” and the great fellow guests we met from other parts of the globe. We are looking forward to our return next year. read less
The best ever Arrived at the island at night and was already amazed by the island and the staff, the food on the first night was wonderful aswell as every other night after that. I would like to give a shout out to jozava and viniana who were the highlight of the trip keeping us happy and always smiling all day and all night, at night these two amazing people would play with my family and entertain everyone around them. The activities this island has to offer are absolutely awesome from island tours to snorkeling tours, they cater for any age no matter what, truly the best holiday ever. Thanks Nivini

Meravigliosa esperienza! L'isola è piccola e con pochi bungalow, dall'atmosfera tranquilla e rilassata, che ti permette di staccare completamente la spina!
L'accoglienza è calorosa e familiare e cerca di coinvolgerti nella grande famiglia Navini!
Cucina eccellente e staff pronto a soddisfare ogni tua richiesta!
Una serata a settimana è dedicata alla cucina locale e alle tradizioni: bella esperienza!
La barriera corallina da un lato dell'isola è particolarmente bella ma noi siamo stati un po' sfortunati perché per alcuni giorni è stato ventoso.
Home away from Home - Truely Spectacular My husband and I enjoyed a Beautiful stay at the resort - truly spectacular. We only stayed for 2 nights and 3 days and it superseeds eveyrthing. The staffs get to learn your name and treat you like their own. We were greeted by Losalini who was there for us from begining to end. Thomas the islands Aquaman - his your snorkelling guide, super caring making sure that you are ok throughout the excursion. The dining staff Vini, Joka and others are on hand and meals are more then what you expect and super yummy. Rebecca Foster My husband and I enjoyed our second stay on Navini island, this time as a couple. Two years ago we came with our children.
We will be returning!!
Many people we met on the island were returning a second/ third or multiple times!
The sense of community, warmth, friendships easily created with staff and other residents is a big part of why we love Navini, we feel that it is a unique and special atmosphere.
There is opportunity for socialising with other guests and private space to relax, unwind and just be.
The boat trips exploring other reefs to snorkel, or snorkelling around the island are magical. The water is warm, the sunrises/sunsets spectacular and the accomodation is first class.
Whether enjoying down time as a couple or having fun with family, the experience is fantastic.
There are fun activities for all and the food is delicious and the service is always professional, friendly and fun.
Navini is a beautiful haven and we can’t wait to go back!!
