Over the past few months (Jan/Feb. 2010) there have been about 20 sightings of turtles whilst guests have been snorkelling around the Navini reef. Last year the Mamanuca Environment Society along with researchers from the University of the South Pacific, spent time on Navini looking at and recording data, as Navini is a popular island for turtles to visit and lay their eggs.

During March, we had two turtles come up the beach and laid eggs in holes they dug under the trees. This is quite late in the season for egg laying, and these will hatch late April and early May. So hopefully, another 200 - 300 baby turtles will find their way into the water to start their new life.
