How long does it take to get to Navini?
We meet you on arrival at Nadi Airport and within one hour, you will be on Navini Island (20 minutes by car and 30 minutes by boat).  Transfers can be made at any time of the day or night.
Is the beach and reef easy to get to, and how good is the reef?
All bures open out onto the beach, so you literally walk out of your front door onto the white, sandy beach.  You have an umbrella and beach lounge if you choose to stop there!

The reef having been a protected sanctuary for seventeen years, is exceptional.  Many people express surprise at being able to see such a huge variety of fish, sea life and corals, only a short swim from the beach.  Some scientific people bring colleagues to Navini to see 'how a coral reef should be'.

Does Navini have day trippers?
No.  We made the decision that Navini will be for guests only, and day trippers are not permitted.  Nor is there a village on Navini; just guests, staff and the owners.
Will we have enough to do?
This is probably best answered by the fact that first time guests to Navini stay an average of 5 days; however many of our guests return to Navini, and on these visits, often stay around 2 weeks.  (Our average length of stay has increased from an initial 4 nights to currently more than double this).  On the activities page, you will see lots of things to do,  including reading a book from the library!

What is 'un-expected' on Navini?
Outstandingly, guests comment on the friendliness and attentiveness of our staff and although only 1 hour from Nadi, on the degree of solitude and remoteness on Navini.  Personal touches such as being known by name; feather pillows; comfortable beds; freshly squeezed orange juice; coffee made from freshly ground coffee beans; home made ice cream and bread baked daily; massages are available.  Being owner operated makes a difference!
How many other guests are there likely to be?
With only 10 bures, Navini seldom has more than 20 guests in total.  In off peak times, about half this number.  Staff will by far outnumber guests, so you will be well cared for.
What is the food like?
Our menu offers a wide selection of foods and is continually being upgraded.  Fresh fruits and juices, light to 'man size' dishes with salads, fish, meats and local foods available to choose from.  The menu changes daily, and because many guests stay for 2 and 3 weeks, there is a large variety of dishes.  Recently some guests were discussing why they would come back to Navini and one said '...I would return to Navini just for the food!...'

Can we dine alone?
Yes.  Most people enjoy 'banquet' style meals with other guests in the open dining area.  However you are welcome to have meals served in your bure, or for a special experience, enjoy a candle light dinner set up for you on the beach, or in front of your bure.
How Environmentally friendly is Navini?
Very! 17 years ago we established a 'no take' policy on Navini's reef and as a result, there is a very large variety of corals and fish around the island.  This also 'feeds' fish into neighbouring areas.  We collect and use rainwater to avoid bringing in large quantities of fresh water which would upset the natural balance of water going onto the reef.  Nothing is discharged into the sea.  Guests are shown how to, and encouraged to respect the reef and sea-life.  We have a continuing program of tree plant propagation to increase shelter and provide shade.  Bures are designed with high roofs and lots of windows on all sides, to be comfortable without the need of air-conditioning.  Navini was a founding member of the Mamanuca Environment Society (est. 2002), and continues to be a member of this executive committee.

What will the weather be like?
Fiji is sub tropical, but being away from mountains, Navini receives much less rain and has lower humidity than most of Fiji.  Temperatures from April to September are typically between 24 to 30 degrees C, and from October to March (which is the wetter, summer season) around 28 to 34 degrees C.
Can we be married on Navini?
We are privileged to host about 2 weddings a month on Navini and they are very special occasions.  We do not have a 'chapel' where all weddings are conducted; rather, you are able to select the special place in the gardens or on the beach that you would like to be married.  Most couples choose the beach at just before sunset.  You may have a church minister or celebrant to conduct the service, and we will make all of the necessary arrangements for you.  (See our 'Honeymoons & Weddings' page).
Our flight does not leave until the evening; what time do we have to check out?
You are welcome to stay on Navini until 5.00 p.m. If your bure is not required for incoming guests, you can stay in your bure. If your bure is needed, then you may use our day room. All at no extra cost!
Do you have 'packages'?
Navini concentrates on creating the best possible holiday stay for you.  We are not involved in airline or other travel arrangements.  We suggest you contact Air Pacific, Qantas, Air New Zealand or a travel agent in regard to your air ticketing.  We are however happy to assist with Fiji accommodation if you wish.
Are there any Special or bonus offers?
Navini often has bonus offers for 7 night stays or longer, plus other special offers from time to time.  Check our 'New & Specials' page for details.
